Grey Organic Sunflower Seeds
Although grey striped sunflower seeds are typically used as birdseed, they make excellent sprouts and microgreens. Rich in vitamin E, calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium, and amino acids, sunflower sprouts are incredibly nutritious. When sprouting, the hulls of these seeds will crack open. While they can be eaten with confidence (being certified organic), you may opt to remove the hulls as they can slightly affect the taste and texture of your dish.
Our organic grey sunflower seeds can also be grown to full maturity, reaching up to 6 feet tall and producing large flowers with a diameter of approximately 40 cm.

How to Grow Sunflower Microgreens:
Growing sunflower microgreens is simple and rewarding. Follow these steps for the best results:
-
Soak the Seeds: Soak seeds in cold water for 4 hours to start the germination process.
-
Prepare the Tray: Fill a grow tray with 2–3 cm of coco fibre or a suitable growing medium.
-
Plant the Seeds: Spread the soaked seeds evenly and gently press them down to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
-
Mist and Cover: Mist the seeds lightly to maintain moisture and cover the tray with another tray or lid to create a dark, humid environment. Mist seeds at least twice daily.
-
Expose to Light: On day 4, remove the cover to expose the seedlings to light. At this point, discontinue misting and begin bottom watering.
-
Sunlight: Place your tray in a well-lit area with indirect sunlight.
-
Harvest: Sunflower microgreens will be ready to harvest in just 12 days.
